Step Inside Your Design: How We’re Using Arkio and SketchUp Viewer to Bring Projects to Life

There’s something seriously cool happening in our studio right now.

We’ve just upgraded our tech – not just for the sake of shiny new gadgets (although we do love them) – but to change the way our clients experience design altogether.

With new VR hardware now in the office, we’re diving into immersive design using Arkio and SketchUp Viewer – and honestly, we’re buzzing about it.

So, What’s Arkio?

Imagine being able to step inside your new home extension before it’s even built. Then imagine being able to grab a wall, move it, and reshape the space while standing right in the middle of it – all in real-time.

That’s Arkio. It’s a VR tool that lets us:

  • Build and tweak spaces live in 3D
  • Collaborate with clients and team members – in the same virtual space
  • Import models from SketchUp, Revit, Rhino etc.
  • Explore design ideas in minutes, not days

For our clients, that means no more trying to imagine layouts from floor plans or guess what “3 metres wide” really feels like. You’ll be in the space, seeing it, feeling it, shaping it.

And SketchUp Viewer?

SketchUp Viewer is the VR sidekick to our favourite modelling tool. If you’ve ever seen a SketchUp model and thought, “That looks great – but I wish I could walk through it,” this is the answer.

We’ll use it to:

  • Host VR walkthroughs of your designs
  • Showcase materials, layouts, and lighting
  • Help you really understand the feel of a space before it’s built

Whether it’s a new kitchen layout or a full commercial fit-out, SketchUp Viewer lets you explore every corner – no surprises later on.

How We’re Actually Using It

This isn’t just for show. We’ll be using Arkio and SketchUp Viewer to:

  • Offer VR presentations for planning and client sign-off.
  • Support our R&D work, exploring how people interact with spaces and how tech can help shape better design decisions.

From house extensions to full-scale simulations, we’re mixing research with creativity – and it’s changing the game.

Why It Matters

We believe design should be experienced, not just explained. With VR, our clients don’t need to be experts in drawings or technical language. You just put on the headset and start exploring. You tell us what works, what doesn’t, and we build it – right there with you.

No guesswork. No confusion. Just real design, in real time. This is the future of architecture, and it’s already happening at CFA.
