This concept proposal explores the potential for an exceptional countryside dwelling inspired by the principles of Paragraph 84 of the National Planning Policy Framework. The vision is to create a home that sits quietly within the landscape, enhancing its surroundings while delivering outstanding architecture and sustainability. Paragraph 84 supports isolated countryside homes only in exceptional circumstances, including where the design is truly outstanding or innovative and sensitive to its setting.

The proposal takes the form of a single-storey, gently curved pavilion that follows the contours of the site, maximising panoramic views across the lake whilst reducing its visual impact on the surrounding countryside. A green roof allows the building to blend naturally into the landscape, while extensive glazing creates a seamless relationship between the interior and the environment.

Inside, the home has been designed around wellness, light and connection to nature. Features include:
